Northern Blvd Old Westbury, NY 11568 USA (800) 345-6948 www.nyit.edu Service Provider Key: 2020035032 Placement Exams All incoming freshmen and eligible transfer students are required to take a placement exam in mathematics and English. The results of these tests determine appropriate course placement and assist us in developing plans for your academic support. Placement exams are offered every Tuesday at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., from June 24 to Aug. 19. Placement exams are not pass-fail tests, and you do not need to study for them since they are designed to measure your current knowledge and abilities. However, if you wish to prepare for the test, you may visit www.act.org/compass/sample. Even though the test is untimed, please allow at least two hours to complete it. The exam will stop on its own once it has determined the appropriate placement for you based on your answers. You must complete the test to receive a score. Exceptions: If you have been admitted into the combined Bachelor of Science in life science/Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (B.S./D.O.) program you are not required to take the placement test. If you have been admitted to the Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), the HEOP department will schedule a day and time for you to take the exam. Special needs: If you have any documented special testing needs, contact the disability services coordinator at 516.686.7636. New Student Orientation Welcome to New York Institute of Technology!
